This rare opportunity offers the chance to own a fine and substantial Victorian sterling silver four-piece tea service with distinguished provenance. The set was owned by one of Britain’s most beloved comedians, Eric Morecambe (born John Eric Bartholomew). Eric and his wife purchased the service in Lancaster, England, in 1974. Following Eric’s passing in 1984 and his wife’s passing in 2024, their estate was sold at auction, drawing worldwide attention.

This exceptional sterling silver set consists of a teapot, a chocolate/coffee pot, a sugar bowl, and a cream jug, each featuring fluted bodies, finely engraved decoration, and elegant fruitwood handles. All four pieces are fully hallmarked, with additional part-marks on the two lids and the chocolate pot’s spout cover. Crafted by Frederick Brasted in London in 1880, the set has an impressive combined weight of 75.93 troy ounces.

One of the images shows the set in the dining room at Eric Morecambe's former home in Brachefield, Hertfordshire, England.
