This mid-20th-century limed oak coronation stool was produced for the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Crafted with square chamfered legs terminating in tassel feet, the stool bears the expected royal and maker’s marks: the underside is branded “ER Coronation”, while the opposite side of the underframe is stamped “Waring & Gillow 1953”, identifying it as one of the official commissions supplied for the ceremony. The stool retains its original blue upholstery, accompanied by a later protective cloth cover.
