Fine Georgian English verge fusee pocket watch signed Hampston & Prince, dating to approximately 1790–1810.
This is an attractive and substantial early English example featuring a beautifully engraved gilt full-plate movement with an exceptional pierced balance cock and strong surviving gilt finish throughout.
The movement is signed:
“Hampston & Prince”
No. 5891
The watch measures approximately 48 mm across the case and presents extremely well for its age.
Features include:
• Authentic English verge fusee movement
• Finely pierced and engraved balance cock
• Fully engraved gilt movement plates
• Blue steel screws
• Roman numeral enamel dial
• Large 48 mm case size
• Gilt copper case
• Running/ticking at time of listing
Condition:
The watch is currently running and ticking, though no guarantee of long-term accuracy is offered due to age. The enamel dial shows expected age-related hairlines and edge wear. Case, pendant, and bow show honest wear consistent with more than 200 years of age. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
This is a genuine Georgian English verge fusee pocket watch with excellent decorative appeal and strong collector interest.
