Beautiful late Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette with exceptional hand-engraved floral decoration and original pierced interior grille.
This finely detailed vinaigrette is attributed to Birmingham silversmith John Batson, bearing an “IB” maker’s mark. The exterior features attractive bright-cut floral engraving on both sides with a central monogram cartouche. Interior retains traces of the original gilt wash.
A classic 19th century personal accessory used for carrying a scented sponge or perfume-soaked pad.
